Myrtle Beach Market Common pastry shop to close after just one year in business

A fledgling French-inspired cafe in Myrtle Beach’s Market Common shopping center will close next month after just one year in business.

The owners of Cafe Dua announced the Sept. 14 closure of the shop on Facebook. The cafe served pastries, coffee, tea and wine.

“We always enjoyed our little pastry shops and cafes when visiting other cities, and we decided to open our very own in our neighborhood,” the post said. “It has been a pleasure bringing this vision to the Market Common.”

Cafe Dua is located at 981 Hackler Street, Unit G in Myrtle Beach.

The shop was named after the owner’s daughter Dua Jolie.

“Dua means love in Albanian. Earlier this year we sold the building to our friends and agreed to close the cafe after one full year of the business opening,” the post said.

On Sunday, one of the owners said he planned to focus on his real estate business once Cafe Dua closes. He and his wife, Eri Hoxha, are not leaving the food industry entirely, however. She is still the general manager of Gio’s Italian Kitchen, which opened in 2014, on Kings Highway.

“We hope you will join us for a coffee, champagne, or pastry over the next few weeks, and if anyone has any outstanding gift cards, please use them before that date,” the Facebook post said. “Thanks again to all of our supporters since Day 1. We’ll continue to see you around the neighborhood. With Love, Café Dua.”
