In March, a Canadian airline will restart its nonstop service to Myrtle Beach from Canada for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Porter Airlines plans to bring back two weekly nonstop flights to Myrtle Beach from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) in Ontario. Porter is the only carrier with nonstop service to Canada from MYR, and its return represents the official return of international nonstop flights to our northern neighbor.

“Relax with a trip to sandy beaches and sunshine,” Porter Airlines CEO Michael Deluce said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to returning to another seasonal destination. Myrtle Beach is only a short flight away and is perfect for a short getaway.”

The seasonal air service lasts from March 9, 2022, to May 28, 2022, right in time for the spring golf season. The nonstop flights will happen on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There also will be connecting service through various other airports, the airline says.

“The Myrtle Beach International Airport team is excited to welcome back our Canadian visitors,” Horry County Director of Airports Scott Van Moppes said in a statement. “We’ve truly missed the opportunity to serve our friends to the North and have eagerly awaited the ability to reconnect Toronto and the Grand Strand. We thank Porter for their dedication to the Myrtle Beach market and for enabling the return of this popular route.”

The airline offers a “Full Refund Option” when passengers book ticket for a $40 fee plus taxes. Bookings made by the end of this year are eligible for cancellation or change without any additional feels, as well.

Passengers should keep in mind ongoing travel restrictions. Canada requires all passengers over 12 years and four months departing from a Canadian airport to provide full proof of vaccination before they can leave. Passengers 2 years and older must also provide a valid negative COVID-19 test within one day of departure as part of U.S. entry requirements.
