Townhouse complex proposed on old hospital site
A 32-building townhouse complex has been proposed for 7.5 acres of the old Myrtle Beach Hospital site, the fourth or fifth development proposed there since the hospital was torn down in 2001.
The conceptual plan of the development on Ocean Boulevard at 79th Avenue N has been submitted to the Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board and is on the agenda for discussion at Thursday’s 1:15 p.m. meeting.
The buildings are divided between two-unit duplexes and four-unit quadplexes, according to plans submitted to the city.
Architects will be seeking comments from board members on the appearance of the buildings as shown in renderings, the layout configuration planned for the complex and possibly some of the landscaping shown on the plan.
The review is a preliminary step. More detailed plans will be submitted before the project is approved.
The proposal is number four or five for the site, city spokesman Mark Kruea said.
The others never emerged from the planning stage.
