Publix Super Markets is holding a job fair this week to hire employees for its new store on Oakheart Road in the Carolina Forest area.

The temporary hiring center is at 2000 Oakheart Road and will operate from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Walk-ins are welcome, but spokeswoman Kimberly Reynolds said job seekers can schedule an appointment to avoid lines by registering at the store’s website online.

An opening date for the new store has not been scheduled; Reynolds said it is slated for the end of the first quarter or early in the second quarter.

The job fair is just for the new Carolina Forest location, but Publix has several stores in the works for the Grand Strand.

Other Publix stores planned for the area: a location at the south end of Horry County at the corner of S.C. 707 and TPC Boulevard, a location near The Market Common on Coventry Boulevard and U.S. 17 Bypass, and a grocery store in Grande Dunes. No opening dates have been announced for these locations.

Publix has two stores open in the Grand Strand area in North Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island.
