Indoor trampoline park jumping to Grand Strand’s sports mall
The Grand Strand’s first indoor trampoline park is planning to open in February and feature 20,000 square feet of the bouncy canvas designed to host numerous sports and fitness activities.
The vast facility would include the traditional open trampoline field, as well as a trampoline dodgeball stadium, slacklines, basketball hoops, flying trapeze, ninja warrior aerial obstacle course, and Olympic-size foam pits overflowing with 50,000 cubes of foam.
Horry County is aware of the proposed project, but it has not been submitted to the planning department, said Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier. However, the proposed use is allowed under the existing zoning designation.
The extreme trampoline sports center, High Flyer, would join the XGym Facility at the sports mall at 568 George Bishop Parkway.
The proposed center is operated by Circustrix, a developer of indoor trampoline parks that also owns the Gravitopia in Greenville, HiWire in Columbia, and Gravady in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Developers of the Myrtle Beach area amusement venue say that the growing industry of trampoline parks in the U.S. has added $500 million to the economy. Developers estimate the investment cost of the Myrtle Beach park at $1.5 million, and expect the facility to employ about 40 people.
“We really like the Myrtle Beach market and we have been looking for the right building here for some time. We have had great success in South Carolina in the past and we are confident that High Flyer will have a similar impact on the Myrtle Beach community,” Case Lawrence, CircusTrix CEO, said in a statement.
“We are excited about the building we have found on George Bishop Parkway. The size and layout of the building will allow us to build one of the most diverse and innovative trampoline parks in the U.S.,” Lawrence said.
The trampoline arena can be rented out for birthday parties, corporate events and aerobic classes.
