Hyundai Just Quietly Confirmed A New Elantra Is Coming Soon

Hyundai Starts Teasing the Next Chapter of the Elantra

The current Hyundai Elantra – Avante if you're in South Korea – was first introduced in 2020. It got a quick facelift in 2023, but now it's about time for a full makeover. And if you thought that was still way off, think again.

Hyundai Korea just quietly rolled out an 'Early Pass' registration for the 'completely redesigned eighth-generation Avante.' Basically, those who are curious can sign up now and get early info before the car officially drops.

Obviously, Hyundai isn't just hinting at another facelift – this is officially the eighth generation, which means a full-blown redesign is locked in. The Early Pass registration runs from June 15 to August 2, so Hyundai is clearly getting the hype machine rolling before the big reveal, possibly right after those registration dates.

Early Pass Program Hints at an Approaching Launch

According to the campaign details, Early Pass registrants will receive priority access to information about the new sedan's design, specifications, launch timing, and future display and test-drive schedules.

There are perks, too. Five lucky folks will snag a KRW 1 million (about $730) purchase subsidy, and 100 more can score a KRW 100,000 (roughly $73) contract bonus. Plus, early birds get first crack at test-drive reservations.

Despite the crossover and SUV craze, the Elantra is still a big deal for Hyundai worldwide. The humble sedan refuses to fade quietly into the background.

In the US, the Elantra wrapped up 2025 as Hyundai's third best-seller, moving 148,200 units – just behind the Tucson and Santa Fe. The story's the same in 2026 so far, with the Elantra still outpacing the Sonata, Palisade, and Kona.

What We Know About the Next Elantra So Far

Hyundai hasn't pulled the covers off the next-gen Elantra just yet, but the rumor mill is already churning. Prototype sightings hint at a bolder look for the next Elantra. Spy shots show a camouflaged test car with proportions and styling that look nothing like the current model.

Inside, things could get even wilder. Word is, Hyundai's cooking up a new dashboard with massive integrated screens – think the kind you see in its latest EVs. The center infotainment screen will likely house the brand's latest Pleos Connect software. Thankfully, that new system still integrates physical buttons for essential functions.

Looks and tech aside, the Elantra is still one of Hyundai's global heavy hitters. It's one of the last compact sedans pulling real numbers in big markets, so this next-gen launch is a big moment for the brand.
