Myrtle Beach disc golf shop to begin serving beer and wine. What to know
A disc golf shop in Myrtle Beach will begin serving beer and wine at the end of August.
The former Teddy Peddler will be taken over by Another Round Myrtle Beach, 4719 S. Kings Highway, owner Christopher Chapman said.
Another Round is a Charlotte-based disc golf store with destinations across the United States. There are locations as far west as Salt Lake City, Utah, and as far south as Austin, Texas.
“You go play a round of disc golf then swing around and have another round with us,” Chapman said. “The Another Round brand is very recognizable and noticeable in the disc golf community.”
Chapman said he will be selling a variety of beer in cans and bottles, including local brands like Grand Strand Brewing Company and some popular domestic choices, along with wine. The first pour at the store will be on Aug. 29.
Getting city approval to begin selling beer and wine for on-site consumption was difficult, Chapman said. He had to go through special zoning hearings and applications to bring Another Round to Myrtle Beach. He does not currently have beer on tap but will reassess in a year or two and see if it is possible.
Chapman said he will have disc golf watch parties during the Myrtle Beach Open, one of the largest tournaments on the East Coast. He is one of the main organizers for the 330 person tournament.
For now, the disc golf community can play at the Splinter City Disc Golf Course in Market Common or the Socastee Recreational Park and then grab a local beer around other golfers.
“Disc golf is a huge community culture and this fosters the cultural hangout space,” Chapman said.
