24-story hotel with rooftop pool moving forward in Myrtle Beach

A 24-story hotel with a rooftop pool and a park is moving forward in Myrtle Beach.

The Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board approved building permits for the hotel at 23rd Avenue North and North Ocean Boulevard on Aug. 21. Strand Capital Group developer Charles Daniel hopes to begin construction by the end of 2025 with the hotel opening in 2028.

The development, which will be a Hilton Grand Vacations Timeshare Resort, does not yet have a name. The Sun News previously reported it may be called the Ocean 23.

The new hotel will be similar to the Ocean 22 hotel, which is another Hilton Grand Vacations Club, located next to the hotel. Daniel said the new hotel will have 227 units which will all be condo-type suites with one, two or three bedrooms. Above the 21st floor, there will be penthouse-style suites.

Guests will find an amenity center on the 21st floor featuring a pool, pool bar and lounge. An additional two pools will be located on the ground floor. Other amenities include a fitness center, kids space and market. There will be no full-service restaurant on property, Daniel said.

Along with the hotel, Strand Capital Group is working on creating two parking lots between North Ocean Boulevard and North Kings Highway. Daniel said the group decided to take the public right of way next to one of the parking lots and create a small park.

“It will create a visual kind of pedestrian thoroughfare,” Daniel said. “We like more green space, as much as we can do.”

Two buildings, previously run by Boardwalk Beach Resort, were torn down to make way for the new hotel, Google Maps shows.
