Construction happening in between Conway and Myrtle Beach. What is being built?
A new Dollar General is being built in a once rural area that is quickly being developed, the Dollar General Public Relations Team confirmed
There are multiple permits showing a Dollar General is being built at 2101 Wilderness Rd., Conway. This is along S. 90 in between US 501 Business and Lee’s Landing Circle.
The store is expected to open in the fall, the Dollar General Public Relations team wrote in an email to The Sun News. About six to ten employees will be hired to work at the location.
The new Dollar General is located about two and a half miles from two other locations, with one also along S.C. 90 and another near US 501.
“In selecting store sites, we take a number of factors into consideration, carefully evaluating each potential new store location to ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ price, value and selection needs. We further strive to provide convenience for customers who may not have affordable nearby retail options,” the Dollar General Public Relations team wrote.
SC 90 has seen a boom of development in the past decade, with over 1,500 homes built and plans to construct more, The Sun News previously reported. There is also a Refuel gas station and a Dunkin under construction on the once quiet highway.
Within the next 10 years, Horry County plans to expand SC 90 from two lanes to four using funds from RIDE 4, according to The Sun News.
