Looking to buy a tiki bar boat? 4 for sale on Facebook in Myrtle Beach area

The owners of four tiki bar boats are saying goodbye to themed rides around the Intracoastal Waterway and Murrells Inlet.

John Sessums said he and his wife, Rebecca Sessums, are selling Myrtle Beach Tikis, a company that owns and operates four tiki bar boats in the Myrtle Beach area. Two boats are located in Little River and two are in Murrells Inlet at the Marlin Quay Marina.

John Sessums said his family decided to sell the business after making a career change. Since opening Myrtle Beach Tikis around 2018 Rebecca Sessums began working full-time at a law firm in Charleston and John Sessums decided to build and open a new dock in Little River, he said.

When asked how much he is selling the business for, John Sessums declined to answer, stating he is looking for serious buyers. For context, a new tiki boat from Tour Scale, the business John Sessums franchises with, costs about $60,000.

The new dock John Sessums plans to build will be connected to Makos Bar N Grill, a new restaurant located on the Intracoastal Waterway that opened this year, The Sun News reported. Steve Martin, John Sessums’s father-in-law, owns the restaurant.

A Myrtle Beach Tikis boat gained attention in May after it washed on shore in Myrtle Beach, according to The Sun News. John Sessums said the boat was being towed between Murrells Inlet and Little River when it broke off and floated onto the sand in Myrtle Beach.

The Sessums will continue to operate the tiki bar boats until the business is sold.

The boats do not provide snacks or beverages, but have a cooler for customers to store food and drink. A maximum of six people can ride one boat at a time and the tiki bar boat stays in the Intracoastal Waterway or the inlet. Rides start at $100, according to the website.

“We started with one boat and grew, buying a new boat every year. The boats will still be around, but the company will be run by someone else,” John Sessums said.
