Two new housing developments move forward in Grande Dunes area of Myrtle Beach
Two parcels of land in the Grande Dunes area in Myrtle Beach are in the process of being developed into homes for the master-planned community.
A development of 62 single-family homes off 76th Avenue North called “Cane Patch North” is making its way through the Myrtle Beach Planning Commission. At the same time, homes in the “Beach View” neighborhood near 82nd Avenue North are being sold before construction has begun.
It appears that Development Resource Group, also known as DRG, is the main developer for Cane Patch North. DRG agent Cameron Parker has been attending Myrtle Beach Planning Commission meetings to speak about the houses. The Sun News reached out to Parker and DRG but did not hear back before publication.
As of July 1, construction has not begun at 76th Avenue North, as the plot of land remains covered in trees. Plans show the area would become “Bluestone Circle,” a court with 62 homes on about 0.14-acre plots and three common spaces. There is not yet a public timeline for when these homes would be built.
Neighborhoods in Grande Dunes can take years to complete. People move into homes while other plots of land sit empty, waiting to be built. For example, homes are actively being built in the Living Dunes neighborhood, despite the land records showing the first houses were finished in the late 2010s.
Beach View homes, located across the street from Hook and Barrel, are under construction, but are being sold to future homeowners. The houses range from $900,000 to over $1 million, according to the Lennar website. The current homes for sale range in size from nearly 1,800 square feet to more than 2,500 square feet.
Plans show there will be about 100 homes in total, as well as ponds and a common space with walking trails. Beach View is located next to The Promenade, another housing development. The Promenade offers townhomes being sold in the $500,000 to $600,000 range.
Beach View homes are expected to be finished in the late fall. Workers began tearing down trees and building the base for the homes last summer, The Sun News reported.
As with other Grande Dunes homes, Cane Patch and Beach View homeowners will have access to the Grande Dunes Ocean Club, a beautiful clubhouse located along the beach.
