The Myrtle Beach area’s only Amish store closed. No one knows why

The permanent closing of a North Myrtle Beach Amish store has neighbors and customers scratching their heads.

Visitors planning to drop by The Country Living Amish Store will be greeted by locked doors and a sign taped to the front door reading “permanently closed.”

The Country Living Amish Store at 4403 S.C. Highway 17 S was known for selling outdoor furniture, yard decorations and different kinds of sweet or savory treats.

The owner of The Country Living Amish Store could not be reached for comment.

The merchandise for the Amish Store is still on the front lawn, but traffic cones have blocked off the parking lot.

No one knows what will happen to the store’s merchandise.

The closing comes as a surprise to customers and the store’s neighbor Richard Kligman.

Kligman, co-owner of Klig’s Kites, said he had spoken to owners about buying some of the store’s Trump merchandise for his other business, Keep On Trumpin’.

Kligman said the owner of the Country Living Amish Store said he was losing money the last time he spoke to him.

The store’s last Facebook post promised a grand re-opening in May after the building’s renovations in February.
