Beloved coastal North Carolina seafood restaurant said they’re closing after 70 years
A seafood restaurant with more than 7,000 followers on Facebook and 70 years of storied history in Calabash, NC announced on social media that they will be shuttering their doors permanently.
Dockside Seafood House sat overlooking the Calabash River and served fresh seafood, including peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters and crab dip with Texas Toast and crackers.
“This is not just a farewell to a business, but a heartfelt goodbye to the countless relationships, shared memories, and cherished traditions that have been within these walls,” a statement from the owners read.
As of Monday afternoon, the post had received over a thousand reactions and over 500 comments.
The restaurants former website no longer displays their menu or hours. Instead, it says “Dockside is Closed.”
“We are sorry, but it looks like we will be closed indefinitely,” their website now states.
The statement from the restaurant didn’t say why they were closing ahead of the summer tourist season on the beach.
