New Irish sports bar opens near Myrtle Beach State Park. It’s locally owned

A new Irish spots bar is open along U.S. 17 near Myrtle Beach State Park.

Brooke Morello and Brian Hagerty, a pair of food service veterans, opened Lad’s Sports Bar and Grill on Jan. 25. Found at 4735 S. Kings Highway,

Lad’s is a sports bar with an Irish twist.

The restaurant features 11 televisions and four dart boards. For other activities, there will be live music, karaoke and trivia. Morello and Hagerty also hope to host dart leagues within at the bar.

Hagerty said he wants Lad’s it to be a local watering-hole bar. The Irish bar serves local IPAs and Guinness and will have a specialty drink menu ready later. For food, there will be classic Irish dishes like bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie and fish and chips.

The patio at Lad’s should be ready for spring break and Morello said there are plans to have a large St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Morello and Hagerty are trying to coordinate with the Harley Davidson store across the highway for the Spring Bike Rally.

Morello and Hagerty have been working in food service for around 25 years and have known each other for around 20. They reconnected over the summer and began dating. An opportunity to purchase a building and open their own place came up, so Morello and Hagerty went for it.

Lad’s will be open from noon to midnight daily to start out. He hopes to have a weekend brunch eventually.

“We’re gonna have great fresh food, impeccable service and the place is always going to be clean,” Hagerty said.
