New restaurant is bringing a Central Asian flare to Myrtle Beach food scene. Here’s where

A new restaurant serving food from Uzbekistan, a country located in Central Asia, recently opened on the south end of Myrtle Beach.

Caravan, located at 409 S. Kings Highway, opened on Nov. 19. The restaurant serves various kinds of Uzbek staples, such as kebabs and plov, which is a type of rice pilaf. Other menu highlights include dolma, manti dumplings —a style of dumpling made with lamb — and lagman soup.

The restaurant is being run by the Kadirov family. The Sun News reached out for comment but did not hear back.

Uzbekistan is located in former USSR territory and its food features a blend of cultures, according to Ohio State University. Turkish, Russian and Persian influences are seen in the country’s dishes.

Caravan is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Entree prices range from $14 to $34.

“We invite you to indulge your senses and experience the unique tastes and textures that define this delightful cuisine,” Caravan wrote in a social media post. “Come and savor the warmth of Uzbek hospitality in a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates the essence of traditional cooking.”
