The Funplex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has closed for good. Here’s what we know

The Funplex in Myrtle Beach is closing permanently, according to an announcement shared on the amusement park’s website. Located a block from the shore at 1405 N. Ocean Blvd., the park opened in downtown Myrtle Beach in May 2021.

“We are incredibly proud of the community we have built together and the countless smiles we have shared,” the announcement said. “It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving Myrtle Beach.”

Lahn Hospitality and Amusement Group, which owned The Funplex, sold the rides to a third party and has begun moving them off site, according to marketing director Amanda Boyer.

While The Funplex in Myrtle Beach has closed, the park’s two New Jersey locations in East Hanover and Mount Laurel will remain open.

“Lahn Hospitality [and] Amusement Group has shifted its strategic focus to its [New Jersey] properties, including its golf club, hotel, restaurant, and two amusement parks,” Boyer said in an email.

Remaining credits on Fun Cards can be used at the other Funplex locations, Boyer said, or visitors can reach out to the guest service team via email at funplexmarketing@gmail.com with inquiries about refunds or exchanges.
