Hobby Lobby appears to be coming to Murrells Inlet, SC. Here’s what we know

A new arts and craft store may be joining the former Inlet Square Mall as part of its redevelopment.

A Hobby Lobby is set open in one of the newly developed spaces, Horry County council member Tyler Servant told WMBF. The Sun News contacted Servant and Hobby Lobby and did not hear back before publication.

Demolition began recently at the Inlet Square Mall as part of the redevelopment plan. Most of the former mall will be torn down except for a few store locations, including Belk and Planet Fitness.

Once completed, there will be eight new retail spaces along with an apartment complex and two hotels, according to plans from Paramount Development Corp..

Completion is expected in 2025, which is when Hobby Lobby could open.

There is a Hobby Lobby in North Myrtle Beach, but a second location would bring the popular store to the south strand. It’s around a 45-minute drive from Murrells Inlet to the North Myrtle Beach location.

Hobby Lobby sells hundreds of supplies for everything from painting to framing pictures to holiday decor, , among other items. Residents are excited, with several taking to Facebook to express their excitement about the store coming to Murrells Inlet.
