A new cancer research center is coming to Horry County. Here’s where it will be
A regional healthcare system is consolidating its cancer treatment facilities into one location in the Grand Strand area.
The McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research at Seacoast will open on the campus of McLeod’s Seacoast Hospital in Little River.
The groundbreaking for the project will begin July 17, and construction will be completed in the winter of 2025, according to McLeod Director of Communications and Public Information Kelly Hughes.
The center will be the “first comprehensive cancer center in Horry County,” according to a press release. Hughes added that the new center will help patients receive easier access to treatment by having all medical care in one place.
The center, located at 3793 McDowell Lane, will provide radiation oncology, chemotherapy and medical oncology to patients.
Hughes did not provide cost estimates for the new center, and said in an email Monday that more information will be offered at the July event.
McLeod is a Carolina-based healthcare system that has seven hospitals, according to its website, including the Seacoast hospital located in Little River located at 4000 Highway 9 E.
