Here’s what you need to know about the Techstars Startup weekend in Myrtle Beach
If you’re a programmer, startup, graphic designer, or digital creator, there might be a hands-on opportunity this weekend for you.
Hosted by eMYRge, Myrtle Beach’s largest entrepreneur support organization, the Techstars Startup Weekend is an event where groups of participants will work together with mentors on-site on a product idea, prototype, demo and pitch.
The event will take place September 16-18 at the HTC Aspire Hub in downtown Myrtle Beach. Groups of participants will meet Friday night to chose an idea, and present the idea in a pitch Sunday evening.
Currently there are only 10 spots left for registration.
“Startup Weekend is a great place to connect with passionate people driven to build something new. There is no better place to meet new friends, colleagues, mentors, cofounders, and investors in your community and around the state”, said Barb Royal, executive director of eMYRge, in a press release. “It provides participants many opportunities to engage and connect with like-minded individuals and maybe even launch that idea that’s been rattling around in their head.”
Registration will cost $40 for participants and $25 for students. According to Royal, scholarships are available if registration costs are a barrier.
Among the sponsors for this event is Google for Startups, which is offering participants $300 in credit to build their mobile app or website, according to Royal.
Google for Startups is an organization launched by Google in 2011 that has over 50 co-working spaces and provides hands-on lessons for entrepreneurs.
Techstars Startup Weekend: Myrtle Beach is also sponsored by Myrtle Beach Down Town Alliance, The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, DNS Filter and Carolina Cool.
