The owners of the self-proclaimed first cold-pressed juice bar in Myrtle Beach have expanded with a second and larger location.

Sisters Leonella and Lorenna Gonzalez opened last week another Loleo Juice Bar, this one at 7712 North Kings Highway.

Leonella believes the sisters established the first true cold-pressed juice bar in Myrtle Beach when they opened on Howard Avenue in The Market Common in October 2019.

“We’re the first juice bar in Myrtle Beach and the first ones bringing cold-pressed juices to town as well,” Leonella said. “Everything is made from scratch here, and we base our menu on raw vegan food. Our main goal is to keep our menu very simple with simple ingredients and ingredients people can recognize. We don’t use any type of preservatives, no ice or anything added to our smoothies.”

The initial name was Juiced Up, but to avoid trademark issues the sisters created a name that combined their first names.

Business has warranted expansion, and the new location has a lot more room for seating. “We definitely needed more space.,“ Leonella said.

Loleo serves fresh juices, smoothies, lattes, bowls including some featuring acai, and meals from scratch using locally-sourced produce. The juices are not pasteurized. The fruits and vegetables are frozen so ice doesn’t have to be used. “That way we can create the consistency of the smoothie,” Leonella said.

Leonella is a certified Holistic Health Coach. “I’m very passionate about nutrition and what food can do for us,” she said. “Me struggling with my relationship with food and crash diets, I started researching and . . . studying more about nutrition and looking for someone to help me understand what my body does and what foods are good for me.”

The sisters are natives of Puerto Rico and arrived in Myrtle Beach via stays in New York City. They have become more involved in the community by hosting workshops and events.

“That’s our main goal as a business, we want to create a movement, create a brand so people can understand you are what you eat, so that’s why our menu is so simple and so clear,” Leonella said. “There’s nothing behind what we put in our smoothies or juices.”

Loleo offers more than a dozen superfood add-ons such as bee pollen, hemp seeds, turmeric and chia seeds.

The menu at the new location is the same as the current store but will eventually expand, Leonella said.

The menu changes slightly with the seasons, and the winter menu features homemade almond butter with chocolate and peppermint, a chocolate-peppermint smoothie, and a coconut-based winter bowl. For the holidays, there’s also a Naughty With Some Spice bottled cold-pressed juice.

A second Loleo Juice Bar will soon open in Myrtle Beach on North Kings Highway. The first one opened in The Market Common in October 2019.
