The store for runners opened a location two weeks ago on U.S. 17 in Pawleys Island, officially at 11326 Ocean Highway.

Fleet Feet sells running, walking and fitness-oriented sneakers, equipment and apparel and utilizes a personalized fit ID foot scanner and other tools to ensure the best footwear fit. Other items include sunglasses, and nutrition and hydration products.

In addition to being a retail store, the family-owned and operated Fleet Feet is heavily involved in the running community.

It organizes and sponsors training programs, group walks and runs including food truck runs and pub runs originating at Grand Strand Brewing Company, and fitting sessions for high school athletes. Its employees are extensively trained to assist runners.

A grand opening beginning at 9 a.m. on Nov. 13 will feature a breakfast taco/burrito food truck, Caspin coffee, events and representatives of shoe manufacturers including Mizuno, Altra and Brooks offering specials and giveaways. The 28th annual Turtle Strut 5k/8k run in Pawleys Island is being held at 8 a.m. that morning.
