Tidelands Health now official for Georgetown system
Tidelands Health officially becomes the new name Monday for what has been the Georgetown Hospital System.
The name change was announced in December and is the new designation for the system’s three hospitals, two community cancer centers and more than 40 outpatient centers, according to information from the hospital.
Chosen by the system’s board of trustees, the new name is intended to reflect the area it serves, including Horry, Georgetown, Williamsburg and Charleston counties.
In 2014, the system’s facilities had more than 220,000 outpatient visits, 61,000 emergency department visits and 13,000 inpatient visits. It has 298 licensed beds, the hospital system said.
The Tidelands logo retains the cross from the former logo and wraps it in blue and teal ribbons that are meant to symbolize the area’s rivers and waterways.
The system is also debuting a new website, tidelandshealth.org.
Georgetown Community Hospital, the system’s flagship facility, was founded more than 60 years ago.
“As our community has grown,” said Tidelands Health board chairman H. McRoy Skipper Jr., “so have our services, and the Tidelands Health name and logo are a visible assurance to patients that quality care is available right here at home.”
