Planet Fitness to open location in Murrells Inlet

Planet Fitness is headed to the south Strand.

The fitness center will open in Inlet Square Mall in the spring, said Shelley Choquette, who is in charge of business development from Wilmington, N.C., to Savannah, Ga., including the Grand Strand.

Planet Fitness will move into a 22,000-square-foot space that was formerly occupied by Ladies Choice Fitness and MasterCuts.

This will be Planet Fitness’ third location in Horry County. It also has gyms on Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach and in Conway off U.S. 501 in the Bay Village Shopping Center.

“We are very excited to be coming into Murrells Inlet,” Choquette said, adding that there’s demand for a Planet Fitness on the south end.

Planet Fitness decided to move into the mall because it has plenty of parking and the space came at a good price, Choquette said.

This is one of the biggest additions to the mall since Frank Theatres opened about three years ago.
