Number of employed in South Carolina reaches record high

South Carolina’s unemployment rate continued a downward trend in October, falling to its lowest level since March 2001.

The number of unemployed in the state was 4.7 percent in October, as the number of employed increased to a record level of 2,193,017. The number of unemployed fell to 108,508, the lowest mark since Aug. 2001.

The national jobless rate for October was 4.9 percent.
