Stores pledging to stay closed on Thanksgiving, but not necessarily for the reason you would think
More stores continue to join a list of retailers that will “just say no” to opening on Thanksgiving, although allowing families to celebrate together may not be the biggest reason.
According to a story by FoxCarolina.com, retail experts say stores aren’t taking in as much revenue by opening the day before the biggest shopping day of the year.
“Stores have figured out that same-store sales for the last six weeks of the year between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day have not increased because they’ve been open one more day,” Mike Deighan, managing director the O’Keefe financial consulting firm, told the Raycom News Network.
