Origin of name | Created in 1734 and named for American General Robert Conway, the town’s original name was Kingston, honoring England’s King George II. Conway was one of the earliest settled towns in South Carolina.
Major events | Riverfest, an annual kick-off for Fourth of July festivities, and the Rivertown Music and Arts Festival.
What’s new | A new technology center under development with plans to open in fall 2014 will use the resources of business and academics to foster new business start ups that could result in as many new jobs in Horry County.
