Established | 1968
Origin of name | The city of North Myrtle Beach was formed after Cherry Grove, Crescent Beach, Windy Hill Beach and Ocean Drive consolidated into one community.
What’s new | The city’s past and prsent is now preserved at the new North Myrtle Beach Museum that opened in 2013 and the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, a 160-acre facility with a 27-acre lake that opened in early 2014. Go Ape Treetop Adventures opened near the facility in summer 2014.
With more than 12,500 accomodations options along with more than 1,000 eateries to choose from, North Myrtle Beach also offers a variety of recreational activities that include golfing, shagging, dancing as well as being the home to one of the area’s largest entertainment venues, the House of Blues.
Major events | Mayfest on Main, St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival, Divas Half-Marathon, Irish-Italian International Festival, shag festivals and competitions.
