Major events | A golf cart parade every July 4 was canceled for 2014 with hopes to bring it back.

Best-kept secret | Formally known as Kingfisher Pier, the Pier at Garden City attracts people from all over the state. It includes a long rain shelter at the end and a bar with nightly music and dancing during the summer months. The Pier Cafe hosts breakfasts, lunch and dinner and even live karaoke.

Property tax rate | As an unincorporated area, Garden City doesn’t have its own taxes. Horry County’s rate is 45.2.
