Eat like a king at Kings sushi | Kicks Quicks
For sushi-lovers, buffet style usually provides a healthy level of skepticism, since no one wants to eat raw fish that’s been sitting out for a while. But at Kings Sushi, they’ve not only cut out the line in all-you- can eat, they’ve provided a way to get as much sushi as you want while keeping the rolls as fresh as they can.
The new restaurant in North Myrtle Beach is the second location of Kings Sushi, the first one down in Surfside. Just as its predecessor, this buffet has classy looks and a big menu to indulge in, from appetizers to sushi to hibachi to dessert.
Once guests are seated, they can decide what they’d like to start with and check it off on the paper menu that all the tables have multiple copies of. The orders are placed, the chefs cook or prepare the dishes, and then the food is brought out. Customers can then eat and repeat.
Because the kitchen is constantly preparing new orders, some wait time is expected, especially during the restaurant’s peak hours. However the servers do their best to check up on tables in between orders. The chefs seem pretty well-practiced so usually the wait isn’t very long, although some orders do come out faster than others.
The portions, especially when it comes to the sushi, are smaller than what most people expect from sushi restaurants. When ordering nigiri for example, only one little piece comes out instead of the usual pair.
The rolls seem to have less substance as well, but that doesn’t stop them from being enjoyable.
The Sea Angle Roll, for example, was a fun mix of crunch, crab, and spiciness. If anything, the smaller portions could be a good thing, since guests would have more room to try as many different sushi rolls as possible.
Kings Sushi does charge for uneaten food, so please keep that in mind. It’s best to order only a little bit at a time, so both the restaurant and the customers get the most of their money. But the price, especially during the lunch hours, is worth all-you- can-eat sushi. Dinner hour does have some special items that aren’t available during lunch, but the price is a little bit more.
The handsome bar is in a separate room and hosts a Happy Hour every day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with discount drink specials. The two separate dining areas make Kings Sushi a great place for family nights and date nights and everything in between.
As far as sushi buffets go, Kings Sushi has the right way to go about it. For the people who adore sushi, this is a great way to fulfill cravings and to do so without breaking the bank. At Kings Sushi, you really can eat like a king.
