With healthy food becoming even more popular and easily accessible, awesome restaurants like Fresh Greens have been popping up like daisies. In the University Commons across from Coastal, this young café promises to bring what their name implies and much more.
Everything about this eatery seems fresh and crisp, from the cheerful green walls to the huge array of fresh vegetables behind the glass guards. Guests can grab two paper menus before beginning their order to go over the many possibilities. One paper is dedicated to wraps, the other to salads.
Both salads and wraps can be made to your unique tastes, from the base to the toppings. For wraps, guests can choose a spinach tortilla or a lettuce exterior. The many ingredients to choose from include onions, peppers, and tomatoes, even roasted sweet potato, corn salsa, and beets.
Adding protein like steak or salmon to your salad or wrap is an extra three dollars. Toppings and dressings are the final touch, which includes ingredients like some cheeses, walnuts or sunflower seeds for crunch, and anything from ginger soy to honey mustard to perfect your creation. Wraps come with the choice of a side as well: fruit cups, side salads, or a cup of the house made soup.

For the customer not interested in making their own meal, flipping the menu over will provide Fresh Greens’ signature wraps and salads. This includes the delicious pesto shrimp salad wrap, stuffed with red onions, roasted red peppers and corn along with the wonderfully fresh and plump shrimp that’s been mixed with a pesto dressing and bacon.
Fresh Greens continues to take their dedication to fresh food seriously, having a separate station adjacent to their wraps and salads counter to make smoothies and juices. Both drinks are made in house with fresh ingredients, so the prices can be considered a little steep. The sweet employees however will encourage guests who bought a meal to help themselves to a free bottle of water.
A few breakfast foods have also made it into Fresh Greens’ repertoire, like a quinoa breakfast bowl or grilled avocado sandwich, to get your day started on the right foot. Depending on how busy the restaurant is, the line can move slowly but steadily, so the premade, already bottled juices might just be your saving grace.
To further improve customer satisfaction, Fresh Greens has discounts for CCU students and has recently started a rewards program. When customers sign up, they get a “stamp,” as it were, for every $10 they spend. Ten “stamps” and that customer can choose a menu item for free.
Some may complain about the prices, but fresh and healthy food that also happens to be delicious is usually worth it. And with the friendly employees always striving to make new fillings, juices, and smoothies to tantalize your taste buds, you can bet they’re going to keep the experience of Fresh Greens…well, fresh.
