Making your own pizza with whatever sauces and toppings you want is not a foreign concept, but MOD Pizza takes it to the extreme. This fun experience is a new arrival to the Grand Strand with its first location now open in North Myrtle Beach, and two more restaurants planning to open up later this year.
With a set up similar to restaurants such as Subway or Chipotle, MOD Pizza welcomes guests the moment they walk in the door with a cheerful, “Welcome to MOD!” Following the wall to the left will guide guests to the first stop on their adventure with a large menu displaying what options there are when it comes to size and toppings.
MOD also has a list of specials, should a customer prefer not to make their own pie. Each item on the menu is followed by an estimate of calories for guests to keep an eye on if they want. Gluten-free crusts are also available for an additional $2 and the employees will address any questions about allergens if asked.
With all the dough premade and rolled out, customers can choose a mini (6-inch), mod (11-inch), or mega (double 11-inch). For those who want to create their own pizza or salad, they can follow the team member down the line and pick any of the toppings laid out. No matter how few or how many toppings you decide on, the prices remain the same.

Once satisfied, the pizza is popped into the open oven and in the minutes it takes to cook the pizza, guests can order drinks (like a milkshake or even a beer) and pay. Once the pie comes out fresh and piping hot, customers have one last option to drizzle any of the sauces on top.
With so much variety and each pizza made fresh every time, it’d be easy to say that no pizza is the same as the next. The impressive prices make it easy for guests to experiment with different combinations too. For instance, if you can’t decide between two types of pizza, buying two minis will only cost about $10.
The pizzas themselves are quite delicious with a thin crispy crust and fresh ingredients so if you got exactly what you wanted, there’s no reason for it not to be a wonderfully tasty pie. The process is nothing groundbreaking but it is still an exciting way to enjoy this popular food. The service is friendly and the cooking is surprisingly fast.
MOD Pizza is a fantastic place for friends and families to have a casual dining experience while making sure every taste is catered to. They unfortunately do not do deliveries, but it is certainly easy to get your food to go. As any of the employees might say, it’s time to figure out your MOD!
