Spicy shrimp can be quick and easy seafood fix
Shrimp is a lowcountry favorite, taken fresh from the sea and waterways of the Grand Strand.
There is a plethora of ways to serve shrimp, but one of the southern favorites is a good deep-fry. Some might balk at breading the succulent seafood, but here is a recipe that is clean, easy, and a little on the spicy side.
Thomas Hiestand of Kingston Plantaion serves up this how-to on how you can have a southern favorite in minutes, fried to a perfect golden brown.
Spicy Fried Shrimp
Ingredients
- 2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg,
- 3 tablespoons Chipotle sauce
- ½ cup AP flour
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- Kosher salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon cayenne dry
- 2 pounds shrimp cleaned
Directions
Follow standard breading procedure by dipping in flour, liquid mixture and then breading, fry till golden brown.
