The Burger Stop offers fresh burgers, live music

Pawleys Island may be known for its seafood and tranquil atmosphere, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some good beef and an animated environment. For instance, if you want a huge customized burger along with live music or perhaps even video game tournaments, The Burger Stop is the place to go.

This burger joint has been open for about half a year and has already become a go-to spot for friends and family to hang out and have a fun time. By the name alone, it’s easy to figure out what their specialty is, but you’d have to drop by to see what their passion is. The family running this restaurant is all about music.

Records line the walls with posters right alongside them, and there’s even a corner dedicated to band memorabilia. Burgers are a choice between the Ringo, a quarter-pounder, and the Van Halen, a massive half pound of beef. All their toppings, from the basics (lettuce, tomatoes) to the unusual (peppers, chili), are free.

Of course, there are other sandwich options if one of those musical giants doesn’t tantalize your taste buds. The Burger Stop even offers salads, wraps, and vegetarian options. Guests can even enjoy chili or smoked Gouda soup. Their seasoned fries, which come out piping hot, can be plain or loaded, and there is a small menu for kids.

After the order has been placed (combos get fries and a drink with a free refill), customers can watch a movie being projected on the wall, listen to live music, or join in a video game while their food is freshly cooked.

Because they proudly use Angus beef, the burgers come out mouth-wateringly tender. The Burger Stop also gets their bread locally, from Benjamin’s Bakery up in Surfside. And since the food is cooked to order, your burger or sandwich should come to you just as you like it. If you haven’t filled up on good food and good music, have some ice cream by the scoop or shake, or even one of their decadent desserts, like the Mississippi Mud or a slice of 3 layer chocolate cake.

Evening is when The Burger Stop really livens up, with beer and wine available for adults and a Happy Hour from 4 to 7 p.m. that has $2 12oz domestic beers. Almost every night, there is live music or just a jam session, which keep the atmosphere casual and fun. Even better, they have regular nights for bands or singers to perform their own songs, aptly called No Covers Allowed. The Burger Stop has also hosted a number of events like fundraising and auctions for local needs.
