After more than three years on Beach Drive in Calabash, N.C., Bagel Dock Café relocated April 3 a short distance away to a larger facility on River Road in Calabash. The cream cheese spreads and bagels maintain their mouth-watering appeal and the wide selection is still available.

“Fresh baked every day,” says Margaret Barbaro, co-owner with her husband Carmine, of the bagels, breads, muffins and other bakery items. The most popular among customers now is the asiago cheese bagel.

A dozen cream cheese flavors appeal to every palate from fruity, such as blueberry, strawberry and banana nut, to tangy, which includes bacon and cheddar. Spicy jalapeno cheddar and specialized lox are among the choices.

Consider your taste preferences and there’s a bagel to satisfy them: bran & honey, poppy, onion, sun-dried tomato, cinnamon raisin, pumpernickel. Prefer plain? It’s available. Want everything? There’s a bagel for you named “Everything” with a variety of flavors and seeds on top.

Bagels cost .85 each. Add flavored cream cheese and the cost is $2.50. A true baker’s dozen of bagels is $9. Sandwiches and burgers are lunchtime favorites, but the entire menu is available all day, which includes breakfast sandwiches, omelets and wraps. Most sandwiches fit in the range of $3.75 to $5.95.

An ample number of tables accommodate diners who want to eat in, but take out is available. Coffee is the European blend from S&D Coffee & Tea in Concord, N.C. The parking lot on the side of the building is large enough for 30 cars when the spaces in front of the restaurant fill up.
