Caribbean restaurant to open new location in Myrtle Beach. Here’s when and where
A brightly colored mural in downtown Conway depicts a sprightly scene of a woman preparing food, young men playing music and animals basking in the glow of the sunset off the Jamaican coast.
Take a few steps toward the entrance of Caribbean Jerk Cuisine, and the mural comes to life in the form of jerk chicken dishes, walls covered in coastal paintings and an open kitchen. Now, the lively Caribbean restaurant is set to open a new location in Myrtle Beach.
Caribbean Jerk Cuisine will open its Myrtle Beach location at 3401 N. Kings Highway this weekend. The soft opening will take place July 3 and July 4, with a grand opening scheduled for the weekend of July 10 through July 12.
Kamal Fraser founded Caribbean Jerk Cuisine as a culmination of a lifelong passion for cooking. Growing up in Jamaica, Fraser spent much of his youth helping his family cook farm-to-table meals, harvesting crops and butchering meat from their family farm.
Fraser initially moved to the Myrtle Beach area to pursue his ministry — and still works as a bishop at the Missions For The Nations Ministry in Conway — but eventually realized the Grand Strand could provide a home for a restaurant of his own, leading him to open Caribbean Jerk Cuisine.
The menu is centered around Fraser’s own jerk sauce, which can be found in dishes like jerk chicken pasta, jerk burgers and jerk chicken wings. Other Caribbean cuisine, including beef patties, festival and coco bread. are also available to order.
The Myrtle Beach location will operate in addition to the restaurant’s flagship Conway location at 1303 4th Ave., as well as Fraser’s food truck for catering and events.
Caribbean Jerk Cuisine serves diners from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Fraser has not yet shared the opening hours for the restaurant’s Myrtle Beach location.
