Myrtle Beach will get a new Japanese, sushi and martini bar by the end of this month.

Koi, located at 7718 N. Kings Highway, is set for a soft opening the last week of March and a grand opening for the first week of April, according to general manager Jane Makmann.

The restaurant is owned by Phil Goldman, owner of Wiseguys Bar and Grill, and Joey Mandia, owner of Backyard Sports Bar and Grill.

It will focus on sushi and Japanese food items, although the chef is still working on the menu, Makmann said. She said there will be a martini list, as well as several options for sake.

“A lot of people won’t carry what sake we will have,” Makmann said.

Makmann said both owners travel a lot and the concept came from those travels.

She described the restaurant as a classier upscale restaurant that is decorated in colors of black and gold. There is “exquisite artwork on the wall” of spray painted Japanese murals, Makmann said.

“We’re definitely excited for this new venture,” Makmann said.
