Bottoms up, Myrtle Beach: The votes are in for the best local beer, according to readers
After hundreds of votes, four rounds and a rivalry for the ages, the results are in.
The best beer in the Myrtle Beach area is ...
Drumroll, please ...
The Wingtip Pilsner from Grand Strand Brewing Company!
At 4.5% alcohol by volume, the pilsner is “clean, crisp and refreshing,” according to the brewery’s marketing. It’s “well-rounded and goes down easy.”
The pilsner just barely beat out its fellow Grand Strand Brewing beer - the Airbrush Hazy IPA - in the championship round of voting. While the Wingtip Pilsner garnered 20 votes, the Airbrush Hazy IPA came up short with only 17.
Grand Strand Brewing Company is new on the scene in Myrtle Beach, opening last year after lengthy delays sparked by the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent obstacles.
The brewery is in the heart of downtown near Nance Plaza.
The two Grand Strand Brewing Company pints made it to the final round after eight beers from four local breweries were entered in a bracket-style competition two weeks ago.
The other breweries in competition were Crooked Hammock Brewing, Tidal Creek Brewhouse and New South Brewing.
In each round, participants voted for their favorites that they believed should move on in competition.
Participants were able to vote as many times as they wanted in the unscientific poll.
