Tucked away in Arcadian Shores Commons, across from the Tanger Outlets off U.S. 17, is a charming cafe filled with unique creations and homemade treats. From the exterior, with chalkboard signs and outdoor furniture, to the cozy interior with book-filled shelves, Cannoli’s Cafe is a quaint shop perfect for a quiet snack.
The first noticeable thing on the menu is the availability of breakfast foods all day. This includes breakfast favorites like bagels with assorted toppings and omelettes, including the signature Three Egg Cannoli’s Omelettes. Some of the bagel toppings include classics like cream cheese or peanut butter, but guests can also experience a Nova-style lox platter (tomatoes, capers, onion rounds and lettuce with cream cheese on a toasted bagel). Cannoli’s also has different cream cheese spreads, such as its signature veggie spread.
Naturally, being a cafe, there are a number of coffees and teas to choose from with beans delivered from Wilmington, N.C. The signature drink is a peanut butter mocha (though by the end of the day, it tastes more like a regular mocha than anything else). Along with lattes, cappuccinos, espressos and regular coffee, Cannoli’s gives customers the option for their coffee to be hot, iced, blended, decaf, and mixed with skim milk or soy milk. Chai lattes and smoothies are available for those not coffee-inclined.
The lunch menu has an array of gourmet and specialty sandwiches to choose from, and just like breakfast, these are available during all hours. The gourmet sandwiches, like the Chicken Basilica, all come on ciabatta bread. The specialty sandwiches, such as a Reuben or veggie and hummus, can be served on white, wheat or rye bread. The salads can be kept as such, or turned into a wrap or quesadilla.
Of course, the namesake of the cafe is made to order, with discounts available when ordered by the dozen. The cannoli offered by the cafe is generally chocolate with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Even with the chocolate, the dessert is not overly sweet but very addicting.
The menu may seem small at first, but there is a lot of variety. Plus, Cannoli’s Cafe makes sure to add its own touch to everything with its signature dishes and drinks that are unique and worth trying. To try a new sandwich along with a beloved classic dessert, this cafe with a relaxed atmosphere is a good place to start.
