As many commenters pointed out, Coconut is full of love and ready to give it to someone special. "Beautiful dog! Please adopt!" @sugarwater23 pleaded. @Steph K added, "Huskies are such great companions. She's such a beautiful girl!" This Husky girl currently lives in Fresno, California, and eagerly awaits her person.
Why Large Dogs Have a Harder Time Getting Adopted
Big dogs and small dogs are very different, but they all need pet parents to care for them. Dogs on the larger side don't always get the same attention from prospective families. Some of this stems from housing issues. Many apartments restrict dogs by weight or breed, so it can be harder to find the right place with a big buddy in tow. Additionally, the larger varieties of pooches generally don't do well in apartments, and they need real yards and big houses. In part for this reason, large pups stay longer in shelters, and that time has been increasing.
We don't see her spunky side in the video, but Huskies and other large dogs have a reputation for being high-energy pups and could be difficult to manage without adequate training. These beasties need a lot of exercise, which means multiple walks or dedicated playtime every day. That's a commitment for someone with a busy schedule.
While dogs like Coconut can take a bit of extra work, they give back so much in their devotion.
