Animals with physical challenges naturally adapt to their environment and navigate obstacles with resilience. Dogs and cats show their grit and determination as they learn how to live life to the fullest regardless of limitations.

Stevie the black-and-gray striped cat is a perfect example of this instinctual tenacity. Despite having no eyes, she can always sense her mom's every move.

In the TikTok from @eyelesscatmom, Stevie stood on an end table in the bedroom and happily stretched to start the day. Despite not being able to see her mom, Stevie turned toward the bed to face her and raised a paw to give her mother a "good morning" touch. The look on the pretty kitty's face exuded joy simply from her mom's presence and seemed to sweetly say "rise and shine!"

"POV: Your eyeless cat gets soooo excited when she realizes you're awake," the on-screen text shared, with the caption adding, "I'm 99% sure she can hear the sound of my eyes opening."

Followers fell in love with Stevie and noted how she brilliantly uses her senses for everyday life:

  • "She can hear you breathing, it's different when you are sleeping," one pointed out.
  • "Awww she's adorable and like 'finally Mommy you're awake - where's my food and cuddles'," another posted.

  • Keep key items like food, litter box, beds, and other basic necessities located in the same spots at all times.
  • Use rugs or mats as markers so they have a point of reference and learn routes faster.
  • Talk softly before touching to prevent startling and build trust.
  • Block off hazardous areas like stairs, open windows, and high ledges.
  • Use toys that make noise and pleasing sounds like bells, crinkles, or catnip pouches.
  • Keep clutter to a minimum so there are fewer obstacles to overcome.

Stevie clearly has a routine with her mom and knows how to start each day on the right paw.
