Green Bay Packers Release Statement Following RB Josh Jacobs' Arrest

The Green Bay Packers have released a statement after running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on five charges.

Per Steve Megargee of the Associated Press, officers of the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Brown County, Wisconsin, responded to a call about a potential disturbance involving the 2022 rushing champion on Saturday morning.

Police arrested Jacobs on Tuesday and charged him with the following: battery-domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, intimidation of a victim and criminal damage to property-domestic abuse.

A spokesperson for the Packers issued the following statement, per Megargee :

"We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs," the spokesperson said. "As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport received a statement from David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, Jacobs' attorneys. They said that the veteran running back "vehemently denies the allegations."

Jacobs is halfway through a four-year, $48 million deal he signed with the Packers in 2024 free agency. He rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games last season, helping Green Bay to a wild card berth. Their season ended with a 31-27 road loss to the archrival Chicago Bears.

Josh Jacobs Is Third Among Active RBs in Rushing Yards

Among all active running backs, only Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry (13,018) and Philadelphia Eagles standout Saquon Barkley (8,356) have more rushing yards than Jacobs (7,803).

Jacobs is also among the nine active running backs with at least 7,000 rushing yards, exceeding 1,000 in four of his first seven NFL seasons.
