Major ' Dragon Quest' Day 40th Anniversary Livestream: Where, When, and How to Watch

It's hard to believe that tomorrow, May 27, 2026, will mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the original Dragon Questgame, and in celebration, developer and publisher Square Enix is preparing for a live showcase of some sort. Here is everything we know so far.

Announced via press releases and on the official Dragon Quest social media accounts, the livestream is expected to bring updates to various Dragon Quest projects, possibly including more information on the much-anticipated Dragon Quest 12.

The show is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT. As of this writing, it is already May 27 (Dragon Quest Day) in Japan, so the show and the early airtime appear to be geared more towards the North American audience.

Dragon Quest Day is often recognized as a sort of national holiday in Japan to celebrate the cultural impact the game has had on the nation and even abroad. It is also recognized officially by the Japan Anniversary Association. Square Enix has been known to drop major announcements and reveals on the day every year.

The Dragon Quest Day anniversary show will be livestreamed on the official Dragon Quest YouTube page.

As for what could be shown at the event, nothing has been confirmed yet, but besides the likely news regarding Dragon Quest 12, we may get a glimpse of another Dragon Quest remake or remaster project.Dragon Quest 7 Reimaginedwas released earlier this year, and Square Enix has recently remastered the first three mainline games, too. It's been widely speculated by fans that Square Enix may be working on a remake or remaster of Dragon Quest 8, one of the most popular entries in the long-running series.

Only time will tell, and fans won't have long to wait, as the show kicks off early tomorrow morning. It is not expected to last more than 10 minutes.
