Possible Major Spoiler on WWE's Plans for Brock Lesnar After Clash in Italy
One of the top storylines in WWE right now is the long-term future of Brock Lesnar, who will face Oba Femi at Sunday's Clash in Italy pay-per-view.
Lesnar indicated that he was retired after losing to Femi at WrestleMania 42. The 48-year-old left his gloves and boots in the ring, then broke character by hugging Paul Heyman and acknowledging the crowd.
During last week's episode of Raw, however, Lesnar unexpectedly returned and attacked Femi. On last night's show, Femi signed the contract for a rematch with Lesnar at Clash in Italy.
Naturally, some fans can't help but wonder if Sunday's pay-per-view in Turin will be the last match of Lesnar's career. However, this reportedly isn't the case.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc.com), Dave Meltzer indicated that Lesnar will not retire after Sunday, and that he'll likely compete at the SummerSlam 2026 pay-per-view:
"He is retired because they are using the word but he's obviously not retired because he's wrestling on this one," Meltzer said. "I would presume this is his last match until SummerSlam, but it's not his last match."
If Lesnar defeats Femi on Sunday, there's a good possibility that WWE would run a rubber match at SummerSlam. That event takes place on the Aug. 1-2 weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Summerslam 2026 Could Be It for Brock Lesnar
Nobody could have faulted Lesnar if he opted to retire after WrestleMania 42. If he's planning to call it quits soon, however, then SummerSlam 2026 would be the right time and place.
Lesnar is from Minnesota, and it's not too often that a wrestler gets the opportunity to retire in their home state.
Then again, WWE has heavily relied on Lesnar to headline its main event cards. If Lesnar wants to retire, but if WWE wants to keep using him, they can always tempt him by offering giant sums of cash.
