Lion-Like Pit Bull With Gene Mutation Looks Like a 'Suburban Mufasa'
Some dogs have a certain look that resembles a different species. Great Danes have been likened to horses, Chow Chows give off major bear vibes, and Shiba Inus could easily be mistaken for foxes.
Theo the Pit Bull has the body and build of the muscular breed, though he was born with a mutation in his DNA that gives him a very majestic appearance.

In the TikTok from @kingtheo_princessrosie, the precious Pittie sat in an almost regal position with his face toward the sky. Theo's beautiful golden fur sparkled in the sun, yet the hair around his face is what was most noticeable.
The kingly canine had a lush mane of blondish-bronze locks framing his face, mirroring the majesty of a lion.
"Not a regular Pit Bull... he's a suburban Mufasa," the caption explained.
The comparison to the iconic character from Disney's The Lion King was spot-on, and considering his commanding stance, Theo seemed to know it. Followers fell in love with the noble fur baby and raved over his imperial presence.
"Sweet handsome boy - let that hair blow in the wind and enjoy life to the fullest!" one gushed.
"He's analyzing the wind smells really seriously - admirable," another pointed out.
"The Fabio of Pit Bulls. He's gonna be on the cover of a romance somewhere," a follower noted.
"Gorgeous King Theo!" someone cheered.
Theo Has FGF5 Mutation
Coat length in dogs is controlled by a single gene called FGF5. Since long hair is a recessive trait, a mutation of FGF5 coding inherited from both parents results in a long-haired coat, even if the mom and dad canines are both short-haired dogs.

Though it's rare, the altered gene can be carried by any breed, whether inherently short-haired or long-haired. Dogs with close-cropped coats like Dalmatians, Pointers, and French Bulldogs may have long and flowing fur if they carry a modified FGF5 gene.
Theo and his Pit Bull sister, Rosie, both have the FGF5 mutation, which gives them both a unique and eye-catching countenance.
