'House of the Dragon' Season 3 Gets Fiery Trailer and Premiere Date
Fire and blood will reign in House of the Dragon Season 3. HBO unveiled a high-octane teaser trailer and premiere date for the third season of the Game of Thronesprequel spin-off. Season 3 of the highly anticipated fantasy series expands its main cast and delves deeper into the infamous Targaryen civil war, "The Dance of the Dragons."
Here's a (very vague) logline per HBO:
"Based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen."
The eight-episode third season stars Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Harry Collett as Jace Velaryon, Bethany Antonia as Baela Targaryen, Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen, Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, Jefferson Hall as Tyland Lannister, and Matthew Needham as Larys Strong.
Rounding out the massive ensemble cast are James Norton as Ormund Hightower, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Kurt Egyiawan as Grand Maester Orywle, Freddie Fox as Gwayne Hightower, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Tom Cullen as Luthor Largent, Tommy Flanagan as Roderick Dustin, Dan Fogler as Torrhen Manderly, Joplin Sibtain as Jon Roxton, and Barry Sloane as Adrian Redfort.
It's worth noting that Alicent and the late King Viserys Targaryen's fourth child, Daeron, will be introduced this season, with glimpses of his dragon, Tessarion, appearing in the Season 2 finale and the first Season 3 teaser. However, as of writing, the identity of his actor isn't officially confirmed.
House of the Dragon Season 3 hails from co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal, along with co-creator and executive producer Martin. The rest of the executive producer team includes Condal, Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
Brace yourself for war when House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max. New episodes will air weekly until the season finale on Aug. 9. Before you go, check out the teaser trailer below:
