Things To Do

Father’s Day is Sunday. Here are some popular steakhouses in the area, Tripadvisor says

Steak is always a popular dish, but on Father’s Day, demand is going through the roof.

Steakhouses and fine dining restaurants traditionally see a 75 percent increase in revenue on the patriarchal holiday, according to the local business information platform Womply.

Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are not immune to the trend, and several local restaurants said they were busier than usual on past Father’s Days than during the rest of the year.

“Everyone wants to buy their dad a steak,” 21 Main at North Beach Director Casey Mungavin added.

With Father’s Day this Sunday, June 18, here are some of the most popular steakhouses in the area according to the travel website Trip Advisor.

New York Prime

The Myrtle Beach steakhouse on 405 28th Ave N is only a short walk from the beach where much of its seafood used to call home.

New York Prime will open Father’s Day Sunday at 4 p.m., an hour before usual. The eatery mainstays include Chilean Sea Bass as well as Maine Lobsters that are kept alive in-house before being cooked.

Other popular dishes include USDA prime steak and lobster and a chocolate cake that can feed 6-8 people. New York Prime does accept walk-ins, but the restaurant suggests calling ahead of time to book a reservation.

21 Main at North Beach

If you like your steaks dry-aged, the only place in North Myrtle Beach to go is 21 Main at the North Beach Resort.

The restaurant ages their beef for up to 45 days, and the process can be seen in a vestibule in the front of the eatery. The most popular Father’s Day dish is a 40-ounce Tomahawk steak with the bone left in.

A popular dessert is the Table Side Banana Fosters a hot, caramelized banana with Bacardi 151 Rum poured on top with vanilla ice cream.

Located at 719 North Beach Boulevard, North Myrtle Beach, Mungavin said 21 Main, which typically has 200 reservations a night, currently has about 20 reservations available for June, 18.

She added that it would be unlikely walk-ins would get a table and so potential guests are highly encouraged to book a reservation ahead of time.

21 Main will be open Sunday 4-9:30 p.m.

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

One of the most popular Father’s Day destinations in recent years, Ruth’s Chris has previously served 400-500 people on the holiday.

The Grande Dunes eatery features popular dishes like a regular and petite filet. Ruth’s Chris also does a discounted three-course meal where a customer gets an appetizer, entree, two sides, and dessert. Entrees include salmon, steak, and a surf and turf option of steak and lobster or shrimp.

Although walk-ins could be seated on the patio or in the lounge, the restaurant recommends guests make a reservation in advance.

Ruth’s Chris is located at 8211 Marina Pkwy, Grande Dunes Blvd, Myrtle Beach and will be open Sunday from 4-10 p.m.

Chuck’s Steak House

The return of Father’s Day also marks the introduction of a new menu at the Myrtle Beach restaurant.

Chuck’s began using its new menu Wednesday, June 14, which includes a new ribeye steak, and Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m. Chuck’s will have a Father’s Day special announced Sunday, and the eatery is also known for its prime rib and filet, and the eatery does reservations as well as walk-ins.

Chuck’s is located at 9695 N Kings Hwy, and will be open Father’s Day 4-9 p.m.

Angus Steakhouse & Seafood

The King’s Highway restaurant, known for its 32-ounce bone-in ribeye that’s set ablaze as part of a fire show, is also probably offering all father’s a free dessert Sunday.

Angus— who also serves Crème brûlée and offers free appetizers for its VIP members— also does a $22.99 surf and turf special where customers can get their choice of one steak and seafood.

Angus is located at 2011 S Kings Hwy, has walk-in seating and reservations, and is open 4-9:30p.m.

Other Myrtle and North Myrtle Beaches steakhouses like Logan’s Roadhouse, Texas Roadhouse, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Outback Steakhouse will also be open for Father’s Day at various locations in the Grand Strand.
