How about a boardwalk? Five free places to take your kids in the Myrtle Beach area
Trying to show your kids a good time on a budget? Here are some fun places in Horry and Georgetown counties that won’t hurt your pockets:
Horry County
Tucked beside the state border, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, the park in Little River offers natural trails for hiking, biking and walking. There are wooden boardwalks that cross over wetlands that allow for views of the scenery and wildlife. Visitors can also see decorated oyster shells hanging from the trees and are encouraged to hang their own shells and make a wish.
Horry County Museum and LW Paul Living History Museum
The museum in Conway focuses on the history of the area. Near the museum is the LW Paul Living History Farm where visitors can experience the everyday life of a historic county farm. Tours are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m., according to the website.
Georgetown County
Pier at Garden City
The pier has fun for all ages. There is an arcade, live music and karaoke on some days. There is also a cafe, bar and a tackle shop. To fish, adults must pay $10 for daily pass and children must pay $5, according to the pier’s Facebook page.
The MarshWalk is a half-mile wooden boardwalk located near waterfront dining in Murrells Inlet. Families can enjoy live music, water sports, boat tours, kayaking and local events.
