Myrtle Beach will host new street skateboarding competition. Here are the details
Myrtle Beach is hosting a new contest for amateur skateboarders in April.
The city’s Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Department is organizing Myrtle Beach AM for men and women skaters.
The competition will be at Matt Hughes Memorial Skate Park on Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9.
Skaters interested in competing must register online.
To purchase tickets, click here. They are $5 a piece
First place winners will get $500. Second place winners will get $250. Third place winners will get $100. Fourth and fifth place winners will both get $75.
Proceeds from the event will go towards rebuilding the Matt Hughes Skate Park.

- Friday, April 8
- Noon - 6 p.m.: Registration and open practice
- 5 p.m.: Jams posted online
- Saturday, April 9
- 9 a.m.: Registration and open practice
- 11 a.m.: Women’s qualifiers
- Three skater jams, three minutes each
- Top six make the cut to finals
- 11:30 a.m.: Men’s qualifiers
- Three skater jams, three minutes each
- Top 18 make the cut to the semi-finals
- 2 p.m.: Men’s semi-finals
- Three skater jams, three minutes each
- Top five make the cut to the finals
- 3 p.m.: Women’s finals
- Three, one-minute runs, best counts
- Men’s finals immediately following
- Three, one-minute runs, best counts
