Things To Do

14 places along the Grand Strand to watch the Eagles and Patriots in Super Bowl 52

It’s Super Bowl time, which means super parties and, in some cases, super deals. Some places along the Grand Strand and in Myrtle Beach party no matter what team is in the big game. Other places, like Foster’s Cafe, Island Bar and Grill in Surfside, Pine Lakes Tavern, The Barrel Bar and Grill, Jimmagan’s Pub, and Milardo’s Pizzeria, will enjoy the game a bit more since those bars are known locally as Eagles or Patriots bars.

Let’s start out with the party for fanatics. Dave and Buster’s at Broadway at the Beach is offering a $100 ticket for party that starts at 5:30 p.m. It comes with an open bar for beer and wine, some specialty cocktails provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a tailgate buffet, $15 game card, some Super Bowl contests provided by The Caddy Girls, raffles and a silent auction. If that’s too steep for this game, then choose from a list of appetizers that will be offered for $5 and wash it down with $3.50 draught Bud Light.

If you’re closer to the north end, Harry the Hats, 351 Lake Arrowhead Road, Myrtle Beach, will have a party that begins at 5 p.m. Drink specials, including $3 bottles, as well as a half-time buffet is planned. It also has a new enclosed patio with a heater for anyone who wants to sit outside.

We like 710 North Myrtle Beach, 1105 U.S. 17, North Myrtle Beach, for a couple of reasons, but mostly because they always seem to make an event out of something they don’t necessarily have to. And we mean that in the best way possible. This place is known for not just bowling, but bocce and billiards, and a huge game room. And the food, you can’t forget the food. And its bartenders, Far from run-of-the-mill. But it’s their event planning that always seems to get caught by our radar. For instance, their Super Bowl package is 20 wings and a pitcher of beer for $20. Pretty good deal to catch the big game.

If you’re looking to stay in the Myrtle Beach area, King Street Grille in The Market Common will be giving away a 49-inch television, according to their Facebook page.

The Philadelphia Eagles fans have been loud and proud since silencing naysayers at the end of the season with wins over the Falcons and Vikings.

Foster’s Cafe and Bar, 6307 N. Kings, Myrtle Beach, is an Eagles bar and will serve food and have drink specials. The details for other Philly places like Pine Lakes Tavern, 5201 N. Kings, Myrtle Beach, and Jimmagan’s Pub, 6003 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach,  haven’t been hashed out yet.

For the Patriots, let’s start on the south end and Milardos Pizzeria, 3264 U.S. 17 South, Murrells Inlet. Their drink specials include $3 import drafts, $2 domestic drafts, $3 well drinks, and $4 Fireball or Jager shots. Milardos will also offer a Super Bowl feast: six wings, four shrimp, two mozzarella sticks, baked ziti, sausage with peppers and onions, and a choice of two mini strombolis (ham, roni, sausage or spinach) all for just $30. Mama mia!

Just a little further north, we suggest swinging by Island Bar and Grill, 2272 Glenns Bay Road, Surfside Beach. The details of their bash haven’t been nailed down yet.

In Myrtle Beach, Barrel Bar and Grill, 2303 S. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, is a Patriots bar, and will have its annual chili cook off starting at 2 p.m. The place gets packed as customers also bring a covered dish to pass, so if you plan to arrive, get there early.

And now, here are the usual locales who may or may not have Super Bowl specials, but are known as good places to watch sports.

We like Bumstead’s Pub, 400 Mr. Joe White Ave., Myrtle Beach,  and it may have to do a little bit with being attached to Dagwood’s Deli.

Overtime Sports Cafe, 1409 U.S.17, North Myrtle Beach, isa great choice on the north end.

Also don’t rule out Chuck and Duck’s Sports Grill at Broadway at the Beach, who will sport specials on wings, hot dogs, fries and more.

Can’t mention sports bars without mentioning Broadway Louie’s, also at Broadway at the Beach. They sum up their Super Bowl party with a simple message: “Win prizes and watch the big game. Food and drink specials all night long. Get here early and grab your seat.”
