Beauty queen, Army Reserve Captain to lead Myrtle Beach’s Military Appreciate Days Parade
Deshauna Barber, the 2016 Miss USA and a U.S. Army Reserve Captain, will be the Grand Marshal of the 2018 Myrtle Beach Military Appreciation Days Parade.
Barber will join the ranks of Alek Skarlatos, Noah Galloway and Montel Williams as celebrities with military background who have led the popular spring event.
The Military Appreciation Days Parade will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 26 at The Market Common on the Memorial Day weekend.
As Grand Marshal, Deshauna Barber will lead the Military Appreciation Days parade along Farrow Parkway, then greet fans afterward at the Family Picnic at Valor Memorial Garden, according to a press release sent by the city.
As a member of the Army Reserve, Captain Deshauna Barber commands the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Company in Rockville, Maryland. She was commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in 2011, and has been serving her country in the Army Reserve ever since, according to the release.
